It is generally both salt and fresh water and the lakes often break through the sand to allow fish in and out. Australia dune lakes are a bit larger, but no more beautiful than the dune lakes of Florida. The tea-colored water with natural tannins in the Florida and Australia dune lakes look similar; however, the color of the dune lakes in Australia comes from leaves of Eucalyptus trees.
